Located near Quimper, the "Manoir de Kerhuel" is a 4-star establishment that hosts weddings, seminars, and events. EURL Botquelen, based in Guipavas, was commissioned to renovate 150 m² of exotic hardwood flooring in the wedding hall and adjoining bar. "Specializing in the installation, sanding, and varnishing of hardwood floors, as well as the laying of floor coverings, the family business has been in operation since 1991, but in September 2010, I decided to take it over," explains Fabien Botquelen, manager of the company of the same name. "My employee and I work on projects for private individuals through architectural firms, general contractors, or directly, and we also work for the commercial sector." The hardwood flooring, which had seen heavy use, showed signs of wear and impact scratches. A major constraint: the work had to be completed within a week during the annual closure. The chosen protocol: mechanical sanding with 40, 60, and 100 grit sandpaper, application of a PRIM’SO* hard primer, then two coats of PUR-T®3 DUO* matte finish varnish, with an intermediate sanding using 150 grit. “We had one week to give it a facelift. […] We proceeded with mechanical sanding. In the end, it took us four days to renovate the parquet floor and restore the character of this beautiful space.” The two-component polycarbonate solution was chosen for its resistance to the stresses of a public space and its non-yellowing film. A challenge met within the allotted time!
